Tangier has a dense, repeating pattern of interlinked hexagons outlined in a pale tone against a deep brown ground — a Moroccan lattice translated into a rug with a clearly defined structure. The pattern is small in scale, so the rug reads as a texture rather than a motif.
It is hand-knotted in India, mainly from jute with touches of wool and cotton. The jute gives it a sturdy, slightly coarser surface and a natural sheen in the pale lines; the wool softens it and makes the rug more comfortable underfoot than a pure jute rug. The dark brown tone comes from dyed material and holds up well.
This rug suits rooms where you want pattern and a dark ground at the same time — beneath a seating group with light textiles, in a bedroom full of natural materials, or in a hallway where a pale rug would never have survived. Available in custom sizes and custom colours to order.
