Champalimaud

Champalimaud Design was founded in 2008 by Alexandra Champalimaud in New York and has since worked with some of the world's most renowned hotels — among them the renovation of the Waldorf Astoria on Park Avenue, Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi and The Beverly Hills Hotel. The same approach shapes the lighting collection for Visual Comfort & Co., where the fittings are designed to create atmosphere, enhance the architecture and at the same time serve as distinctive design objects.

The collection is characterised by generous proportions, refined materials and well-judged finishes. The range extends from floor lamps with a vintage feel to imaginative chandeliers in blown glass — the Valley floor lamp on its tripod base is a clear example. Soft forms meet metal and glass in fittings that work just as well as a focal point as they do as part of a larger whole.
