Holi is named after the Indian festival of colour, and the pattern clearly bears its traces: pigment flung against a pale surface, gathered in splashes and running out at the edges. The colour is strongest at the centre of the rug; towards the edges it dissolves into a sand-coloured ground.
The rug is hand-knotted in Pakistan in wool with touches of art silk. The silk sits in the coloured sections and makes them glossier than the matt wool ground — it is this contrast that makes the pattern look wet, as though the colour has only just landed. The pile is short, keeping the soft transitions distinct.
Holi comes in three colourways: a muted one in rosé, a cool one in blue and gold, and a warm one in terracotta and green. All three work as the room's main event — lay them freely, with simple furniture around them. Can be ordered in custom sizes. Each piece is hand-knotted and unique.
