Eugenie carries a classic ornament — curving tendrils meeting in a continuous lattice, the same kind of pattern found in French textiles of the 1800s. Here it is rendered in ivory white against a muted warm grey ground, with contrast low enough to feel modern rather than historicising.
The rug is hand-tufted in India in New Zealand wool with touches of viscose. The wool gives the pattern a matt depth, while the viscose lays a faint sheen in the lines of the ornament so that they stand out more clearly when light falls from the side. The pile is dense and even, keeping the curved lines clean.
This rug belongs in rooms with a classic undertone: a drawing room with dado panelling, a bedroom with an upholstered headboard, or a library. It also works as a calming counterweight to more modern furniture. Available in custom sizes and custom colours to order.
