Dharan is one of the most lavish rugs in the Nobilis range, and you notice it first when you look at the light. The surface is a single warm sand tone, but woven so that the pile shifts in bands across the rug — lighter where the fibre leans towards you, deeper where it leans away.
The rug is handwoven in Nepal in equal parts silk and aloe. The silk gives it its sheen and the cool, almost chilly feel under the hand; the aloe fibre contributes texture and a natural irregularity that keeps the surface alive. It is a combination that demands skilled weavers and time — and that yields a rug with the same depth as a beautiful silk.
Place Dharan where it gets light: beneath a sofa arrangement by a window, or in a bedroom where its soft sheen can work in lamplight. It is made for rooms where you walk barefoot. Can be ordered in custom sizes.
