Abaca Tigre takes its name from its mottled surface — darker fibres run through a warm, nut-brown base, creating an irregular streakiness reminiscent of fur. From a distance the rug reads as a single colour; up close it is full of movement.
It is handwoven in the Philippines from abaca, a natural fibre from the leaf stalks of the banana plant. The fibre is hard, light-reflecting and durable, and the dense weave gives the rug a firm, almost taut feel underfoot. The brown tone comes from the fibre's own variation in colour rather than from a printed pattern, so the surface never repeats itself.
A rug of this character is a good floor to build on: it welcomes both dark woods and pale linen without competing. Lay it beneath a sofa arrangement or in a study where you want warmth without pattern. Abaca thrives in dry rooms and stands up well to everyday wear.
