Wardle Velvet from Morris & Co is built around a plain surface, drawn with the attention to detail that characterises the house's design. The house was founded in 1861 as Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.

The pattern repeat is 1,0 cm, which makes it a small repeat. From a distance the pattern reads almost as a texture rather than a motif. A straight pattern match keeps hanging straightforward. Wardle Velvet is available in 12 colourways — Sussex Rush, Redhouse, Inky Fingers and Tump, among others. Feel free to take home several samples. The same design can come across quite differently depending on the colourway.

Wardle Velvet comes from the Wardle Velvets collection. The velvet catches the light and gives the pattern a depth that a print on a flat weave cannot achieve.

The fabric is 134 cm wide and woven from a cotton blend. With 100 000 rubs on the Martindale scale, it comfortably withstands upholstery use in the home.

Wardle Velvet is shown to best advantage in living rooms and bedrooms. Its character combines a classic poise, sophisticated restraint and colour intensity, with a medium-light overall tone. Mix with plain fabrics for balance, and put the pattern where it will be seen.
