Truss from Kelly Wearstler is built around checks.

The pattern is a straight match, which simplifies making up. Truss comes in 3 colourways — Dusk, Ebony and Marlin. The colourways differ more than you might expect; choose according to the light in the room.

The pattern belongs to the Kelly Wearstler V collection.

The fabric is 124.5 cm wide and woven in a cotton blend. At 30 000 rubs on the Martindale scale, it copes with upholstery in the home with a good margin.

We recommend Truss for living rooms and bedrooms. The look brings together a classic poise, sophisticated restraint and graphic crispness, with a dark base tone. It works equally well for curtains and upholstery — keep the other textiles in the room simple.

The palette is dominated by brown: dark and deep in tone, with a warm undertone. Consider which way the room faces — north light pulls colours cooler than they look on the sample.

Bear the direction of the pattern in mind when ordering. A large-scale motif requires more fabric when the pattern has to be matched across the widths.
