A straight pattern match keeps the making-up straightforward. Bukhara is available in 3 colourways. The difference between them is greater than you might think — the same pattern can give you a muted room or a bright one.

Bukhara is part of Tabriz from Osborne & Little.

The fabric is 138 cm wide and woven in a jute blend. At 61 000 rubs on the Martindale scale, it handles upholstery in the home with a comfortable margin.

The pattern works particularly well in living rooms and bedrooms. The look combines a classic poise, timelessness and sophisticated restraint, on a dark ground. Large-scale motifs show to best advantage on curtains and larger surfaces, less so on cushions and details.

The palette is dominated by brown — dark and deep in tone, with a warm undertone. Keep the room's other textiles at the same temperature and the whole scheme holds together.
