Snakeshead was drawn by William Morris in 1876. It is one of the designs that has stayed in production ever since, and it is not hard to see why — Morris worked from plants he had in front of him, not from decorative schemes.

The pattern repeat is 32.0 cm, which makes it a medium repeat. The repeat is large enough to be noticed and small enough not to take over. The pattern is a straight match, which simplifies installation. Snakeshead is available in 4 colourways — Thistle/Russet, Claret/Gold, Indigo/Hemp and Pewter/Gold. The colourways differ more than you might expect; choose according to the light in the room.

The pattern belongs to the Morris 160th Anniversary collection.

The fabric is 139 cm wide and woven in a linen blend. A Martindale rating of 20 000 rubs makes it suitable for upholstery.

We recommend Snakeshead for living rooms and bedrooms. The look combines a classic poise, elegance and sophisticated restraint, on a dark ground. It works as well for curtains as for upholstery — keep the other textiles in the room simple.
