Keswick Velvet from G P & J Baker is built around a textured surface, drawn with the wealth of detail that characterises the house's designs.

A straight pattern match makes the fabric easy to make up. Keswick Velvet comes in 6 colourways — Sand, Blush, Teal and Indigo, among others. Do take several samples home. The same design can come across quite differently depending on the colourway.

Keswick Velvet comes from Keswick Velvets. The velvet catches the light and gives the pattern a depth that a print on a flat weave cannot reach.

The fabric is 140 cm wide and woven in a cotton blend. With 50 000 rubs on the Martindale scale, it handles upholstery in the home with a comfortable margin.

The look carries elegance, sophisticated restraint and a modern touch, with a very dark base tone. Mix with plain fabrics for balance, and let the pattern sit where it will be seen.
