With its small-scale pattern and stripes, Hampden sits firmly within the Colefax & Fowler design language.

The pattern repeat is 3.0 cm, which makes it a small repeat. The small scale makes the pattern discreet enough to carry an entire room. A straight match makes the fabric uncomplicated to make up. Hampden is available in 6 colourways — Navy, Red, Blue and Leaf Green, among others. The difference between them is greater than you might think — the same pattern can give you a muted room or a light one.

Hampden is part of Chester - Aut 23 from Colefax & Fowler.

The fabric is 145 cm wide and woven in a cotton blend. At 40 000 rubs on the Martindale scale, it handles upholstery in a home setting with a good margin.

The pattern works particularly well in living rooms and bedrooms. The look carries a classic poise, a closeness to nature and elegance, on a medium-light ground. Large-scale motifs come into their own on curtains and larger surfaces, less so on cushions and details.
