Ghasqai carpets often have geometric patterns with birds and other animals. The frame of the carpets has many floral patterns. The earliest and finest carpets are dyed with natural dyes, often in red, blue and classic golden yellow tones. However, there are inexpensive variants that are dyed chemically. The warp, which comes from the finest wool, has made the carpets famous. Most carpets are available in sizes from 120 x 180 centimeters to 240 x 300 centimeters.
The Ghasqai people are a Turkic tribe in southern Iran. They are nomads, some still live in tents, and the patterns of their carpets are influenced by old traditional art, the tribe's own influences and also modern inspiration. In the past, these famous carpets were also called Shiraz carpets because they were often sold in the market in Shiraz.
