Pure Willow Bough Embroidery dates from 1887 and was drawn by William Morris. The pattern is drawn from observed nature rather than ornament, and that difference is what still makes it work today.

The pattern repeat is 47.7 cm, which makes it a medium repeat. It is a size that works in both small and large rooms. A straight pattern match makes installation straightforward. Pure Willow Bough Embroidery is available in 4 colourways — Wild Mint, Flax, Paper White and Wheat. The difference between them is greater than you might think — the same pattern can give you either a muted or a light room.

Pure Willow Bough Embroidery is part of Morris Pure from Morris & Co. The Pure series keeps its patterns in white, linen and grey, letting texture rather than colour carry the look. It works where a fully coloured pattern would be too much.

The fabric is 133.5 cm wide and woven in a cotton blend.

The pattern works particularly well in living rooms and bedrooms. The look combines a classic poise, elegance and timelessness, on a light ground. Large-scale motifs show to best advantage on curtains and larger surfaces, less so on cushions and details.
