Three questions about fabric

Choosing fabric for your curtains isn't always the easiest thing to do, as there are many aspects to consider. That's why we have three questions for you to consider before ordering your curtains!

1. The curtains' primary function?
Are the curtains to be blackout, provide privacy, or simply be decorative?
Will you have double poles or tracks so you can hang a sheer fabric, also known as voile, together with a heavier fabric?
What are the acoustics like in your home? Curtains and textiles are an effective way of creating better acoustics in a room.
Consider whether the curtains should serve any purpose beyond being purely decorative, then choose which fabric you'd like your curtains lined with.

2. How much space do you have?
It's important to consider how much space you have in order to choose the right type and style of curtains. Roman blinds are a very good option if you don't have much room beneath your window – if, for instance, you have a built-in bench or similar below it.
Wave curtains are best suited to larger spaces. Hand-sewn pleats and curtains with pleat hooks work well in most spaces, whatever the size.

3. What style and feel do you want?
Think about the feel and impression you want your curtains to bring to your home.
If you want to create a natural feel that contributes to harmony, linen curtain drops are a lovely choice, ideally in earthy tones.
If you want to create a grand, exclusive impression, velvet is a good choice.
Patterned fabrics bring both colour and personality to the home.
