Bakhtiari carpets are known for their garden pattern with several plants. Another important pattern is medallions and plant motifs. The colors of the carpets vary depending on the village in which they were produced. They mainly have white and purple shades but also red, brown, green and yellow tones. Blue tones are rare. The wool comes from the knotter's own sheep and the qualities vary. Bakhtiari carpets are knotted with the Turkish knot and the warp is made of cotton. Bakhtiari province is located in southwestern Iran and the carpets are knotted in hundreds of villages. The carpets are available in many different qualities and at varying prices, ranging from utility carpets to fine collector's items.
