Karachi carpets, also known as Bokhara, have several different color schemes but the patterns are similar. They come in many sizes, from very small, 30x30 centimeters, to very large, 400x300 centimeters. The old carpets that the Turkmen knotted had a wool warp while the newer ones have a cotton warp. Wool carpets are the most common, but there are also Karachi carpets with silk weft. As always, you have to be careful about the quality you buy. There are cheap copies of silk carpets that are made of artificial silk. They often lack the high quality that is otherwise common among Karachi and Bokhara carpets. Wool from New Zealand is often used to get the fine, shiny and soft quality.
