Gwen Flax är gjord i ull och jute tillsammans, och det är kontrasten mellan de två som bär mattan. Ullen är mjuk och ljus, juten grövre och mörkare, och där de möts uppstår ett abstrakt, strimmigt mönster i naturvitt och koltoner — som ved eller som regn mot en ljus vägg.
Mönstret är grafiskt men aldrig strikt; linjerna är oregelbundna och avslutas i en enkel ram runt kanten. Materialen ger också två olika känslor under foten: den ljusa ullen mjuk, de mörka partierna strävare.
