Senneh, now called the city of Sanandaj, is the capital of Kurdistan in northwestern Iran. Senneh carpets are knotted by Kurdish craftsmen, but they differ significantly from other carpets knotted in Kurdistan. Senneh carpets use more imagination than usual and the senneh borders are of the traditional three-border type, with the middle border often adorned with herati of an unusual angular shape.
