The color scheme of Kerman carpets is as varied as it is brilliant. Blue to golden tones adorn these magnificent carpets. You can also detect Western influences among some of the patterns.
Kerman in southeastern Iran was a major center for dyeing ancient carpets called Persian miniature paintings. Since the city escaped invasions, art flourished in the province and the carpets were of high quality. The most unique and exclusive Kerman carpets are the Lavar or Ravar Kerman. Generally, the carpets are called Lavar but Ravar is the correct name. The carpets are made in the village of Ravar and are primarily known for their fine knot density and elegance. Most Ravar Kerman carpets have a signature, either of the person who will receive the carpet or of the person who knotted the carpet. The Tree of Life is one of the most famous patterns among the Laver Kerman carpets.
Kerman rugs come in all sizes with wool and cotton warps and in some cases the rug has wool with silk wefts.
