Abaca Tigre har fått sitt namn av den melerade ytan — mörkare fibrer löper genom ett varmt, nötbrunt underlag och skapar en oregelbunden strimmighet som påminner om päls. På avstånd läser man mattan som enfärgad; på nära håll är den full av rörelse.
Den är handvävd på Filippinerna i abaca, en naturfiber ur bananväxtens bladskaft. Fibern är hård, ljusreflekterande och tålig, och den täta vävnaden ger mattan en fast, nästan stram känsla under foten. Den bruna tonen kommer ur fiberns egen färgvariation snarare än ur ett tryckt mönster, vilket gör att ytan aldrig upprepar sig.
