Bakom Pure Pimpernel står William Morris, som ritade mönstret 1876, mönsterregistrerat i februari samma år. Det är ett av de motiv som burit Morris & Co genom mer än ett sekel utan att kännas daterat.

Mönsterrapporten är 64,0 cm, alltså en stor repetition. Med den skalan blir mönstret rummets huvudsak. Lägg till marginal i mängdberäkningen för passningen.
